Equipment Required for Club Trips

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR ATTENDANCE ON CLUB TRIPS

 

BASIC

  • 2 "D" or bow shackles - minimum 3.25t tested.
  • Front & rear tow points or hooks (preferable with 22-25mm hole) NOT tie down points.
  • Snatch strap.      
  • Jack & baseboard – 300mm x 300mm preferred.                                                                                    
  • Shovel - long handle preferred.      

                                         

  • Fire Extinguisher [larger size preferable]
  • Tyre Pressure Gauge
  • Work gloves
  • Recovery Damper (Air Brake)                                                                                                         
  • First aid kit 
  • Pick or mattock (or equivalent)
  • UHF Radio (Handheld radio acceptable)                

 

ADVISABLE

  • Air compressor
  • Sling
  • Tree protector
  • Jump start leads
  • Rated Snig chain.
  • Tow Rope
  • Axe (Half axe acceptable)

 

Note: Please Talk to the Training Officer before purchasing new equipment

 

NOT PERMITTED:

Generators for general camping use (Acceptable for recharging flat batteries and for communal purposes where there is a requirement for a central power source, with due consideration of other campers and in consultation with the Trip Leader)

 

FIRST AID EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR ATTENDANCE ON CLUB TRIPS

 

Each member must do their own risk assessment before purchasing first aid kits/supplies. Take into account:

  • Own training
  • Length of trip
  • Severity [grading] of trip, manual work involved.
  • Remoteness of area
  • Children in vehicle
  • Number of people in vehicle
  • Hazards and associated risks, e.g.: track repairs, winching, scalding, burns, etc.
  • Vehicle occupants with special needs
  • Possible delays
  • Use-by dates.

 

The Club will endeavour to have professionals address the meetings periodically, to give advice.

 

If tackling long or remote trips, we strongly recommend having a current First Aid Certificate

 

You shall always have a suitable First Aid Kit in your vehicle as you never know when you may need it.

 

ADVISABLE NON FIRST AID REQUIREMENTS

  • Sun protection cream (from one of the maximum protection list)
  • Insect repellent
  • Puritabs, water purification tablets
